Lalmonirhat Dahagram Government High School, the only secondary school in the former enclave of Dahagram-Angarpota, is in deep trouble as nearly 600 students rely on just a single teacher.

Students have boycotted classes and started protesting, demanding the immediate recruitment of subject teachers to save their education.

Key Highlights, A standard government high school requires 25 teachers. When nationalized in 2013, this school had only 7. After 6 teachers retired over the years, only 1 remained. Assistant Headmaster Faridul Islam is currently acting as the headmaster, subject teacher, and office assistant all at once. He can teach only up to 5 classes a day, leaving most students without lessons. Located 20 km from the sub-district headquarters and connected via the Tin Bigha Corridor, this school is the only option for local children.

Education authorities said they are trying to appoint new teachers soon. However, local residents fear that without urgent action, the future of these children will remain in the dark.
